George Waidelich joined Albertsons Companies as Director of Energy Operations in 2015. In his position George is responsible for the management of all electric and natural gas operations including renewable energy, energy storage and energy efficiency.

George graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Science. While on active duty he received his Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Finance. After completing seven years of active service in the Navy, George joined Pacific Gas & Electric Company in northern California where he managed matters with large industrial, commercial and institutional customers in areas pertaining to energy efficiency, transmission and distribution bypass, cogeneration, municipalization and deregulation.

George left PG&E in 1997 to begin a ten year stretch selling gas and electric commodities, asset management and maintenance services, and consulting services to commercial, industrial and institutional customers including utilities. During this period he worked for PG&E Energy Services, Enron Energy Services, and EPRI Solutions.

In 2006, George joined Safeway as Vice President of Energy Operations and was responsible for the management of all electric and natural gas operations and for key components of the Company’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction (GHG) & Sustainability Program. All renewable energy and energy storage operations fell under George’s leadership.
